From an inspired idea by Chris Hines and expanded by the PBA, the day began with a community beach clean with Nikki Willows(SAS rep), locals and members of the Porthtowan Surf Life Saving Club(PSLSC).

Then from out of the blue the RNLI Lifeboat appeared out to sea bearing the Blue Flag and seaside award.
Special delivery by Tristan Hamilton and Deshko Matthews.
Group shot at the shoreline!!
The flags were then passed in a human chain up the entire beach by the PSLSC, parents and locals.
The flags finally made it up to the Blue Bar.
Flags finally hoisted by local Graham Jones of 80’s band Haircut 100.
Special thanks to Sharps Brewery for their sponsorship.
The day was kindly supported by the volunteer groups named below.
Winning of the awards is a partnership between the local community, sponsors and Cornwall Council.
