Blue Flag 2021

Porthtowan Beach Association (PBA) are delighted to announce that our beach has yet again been awarded the Blue Flag for 2021.

Sharp’s sponsorship provides the funding for Cornwall Council to make the applications to Keep Britain Tidy who are responsible for the award in the UK.

Thanks to the PBA Team and the groups listed below, plus the wider village community for their help and support over the last year.

Porthtowan Surf Lifesaving Club

Porthtowan Dune Group

Plastic Free Porthtowan – Surfers Against Sewage

Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Seaquest co-ordinated by St Agnes Marine Conservation Group for the education and survey work evidenced for Blue Flag

#2 Minute Beach Clean

Blue Bar for hosting the Blue Flag and Seaside Awards

As well as water quality, which is currently only counted in the bathing season, we also have to show that the village has an environmental commitment, lifeguards, and education and information around the beach.

Now restrictions are lifting we are able to plan events over the next year. Please keep an eye on the website for details. Due to current Covid restrictions there will not be a Blue Flag event to raise the flag at Blue Bar. We do however hope to see you all on the beach – Niki Willows
